In this interview with E-International Relations, I discuss my early research on sovereign debt management in Mexico and Ecuador, the role of political ideas in shaping approaches to borrowing and restructuring, and broader questions in international political economy, including China’s role in Latin America, the Eurozone crisis, and UK sovereign debt after Brexit. It offers a snapshot of the questions that first animated my work and the comparative political economy perspective that continues to inform my research.
